A PPI (Pixels Per Inch) Calculator computes the pixel density of any digital display — smartphone, monitor, laptop, tablet, TV, or VR headset — from its resolution and diagonal screen size. PPI determines display sharpness: a higher PPI means more pixels packed into each inch of screen, producing sharper text and images. Apple's 'Retina' branding kicked off the PPI race; today's smartphones range from 300 PPI (acceptable) to 600+ PPI (flagship). This calculator also determines if a display qualifies as 'Retina' at its typical viewing distance.
Enter resolution (width × height) and diagonal screen size. The calculator computes: PPI (horizontal, vertical, and diagonal), total pixels, aspect ratio, and 'Retina' status at typical viewing distances for phone (12\

Up to a point. Beyond ~400 PPI at phone distance, the human eye can't distinguish individual pixels. Further increases drain battery without visible benefit. For monitors, PPI that forces scaling >125% wastes the extra resolution.
