What is a Poker Odds Calculator?

A Poker Odds Calculator computes the probability of winning a hand in Texas Hold'em (the most popular poker variant) by calculating your hand's equity against opponents' possible hands — critical for making mathematically sound betting decisions. Poker is fundamentally a game of expected value: knowing you have a 35% chance to win a pot that costs you 20% of its value to call means you should call. This calculator helps you learn these numbers without doing the combinatorial math manually (~2.6 million possible board runouts in Hold'em).

How Does It Work?

Enter your two hole cards, and optionally the community cards (flop, turn, river) and opponents' suspected ranges. The calculator runs the remaining possible board runouts to determine: (1) your probability of winning by showdown, (2) probability of tying (split pot), (3) odds against your hand, and (4) drawing odds (outs) for hands not yet made. For heads-up pre-flop: pocket aces vs. any two cards = ~85% favorite. A flush draw after the flop (9 outs) = ~35% to hit by river.

Formula

Hand Equity = (Win Count + Tie Count/2) ÷ Total Possible Runouts\n\nPre-Flop Equity (heads-up, all-in):\n• AA vs KK: ~82%\n• AA vs QQ: ~81%\n• AK suited vs QQ: ~46%\n• Pair vs two overcards: ~55% pair wins\n• Pair vs lower pair: ~80% higher pair wins\n\nAfter Flop:\nOuts (cards that improve you) × 4% ≈ turn+river probability (Rule of 4)\nOuts × 2% ≈ one street probability (Rule of 2)\n\nExample: 9 outs (flush draw) after flop = 9×4% ≈ 36% (actual: 35%)\nExample: 9 outs after turn = 9×2% ≈ 18% (actual: 19.6%)
